Working with similar strategies of lap joints, this armchair was built as a full-scale functioning prototype out of basswood and poplar. Because of the light nature of the basswood frame, the poplar arm pieces were bent into a digitally fabricated mold, allowing for accuracy and strength to join with the frame and transfer sitting loads to the ground. Working pieces will be made using solid maple throughout to ensure strength and longevity.
